A mom who needs a C-section can now see her baby the moment he or she is born.

Then she can hold her new baby through the rest of the surgery.

With a traditional C-section, it can take up to 10 minutes before a mom can see her baby.

One mom worked with her doctor to bring the Gentle C-section, also called family-centered C-section to her birthing center in Minnesota.

For moms who chose this option, doctors use a clear drape when the baby is about to be delivered so the mom is able to see the baby enter the world.

A mom does not see the actual incision. It’s too low on her belly.

Even if a mom doesn’t want to see that much, she can now hold her baby sooner and longer.
