NASHUA, N.H (WHDH) -

NASHUA, N.H. (AP) — Police say high school administrators in Nashua, New Hampshire, found a loaded handgun in a student’s backpack as they tried to find out why he was suffering from an apparent seizure.

The 17-year-old student had the attack on Thursday morning at Nashua High School-South. In an effort to determine if he had ingested something that could have contributed to his medical issues, the backpack was searched and the gun was found.

Police seized the gun. The teen was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Detectives are investigating why the teen brought the gun to school. Detectives and school resource officers also are working with the Nashua School District to ensure safety at city schools.
