BOSTON (WHDH) - Local businesses were booming on this Small Business Saturday.
The shopping holiday was started by American Express in 2010, to encourage people to shop local.
Communities all over the state showed love for their small businesses.
In Roslindale, local stores on Main Street offered promotions and giveaways during tonight’s tree lighting event.
Last year, 95 million consumers shopped at small businesses; up 85 percent from 2014.
