BOSTON (WHDH) - Black clergy leaders met at Boston Police Headquarters Thursday to say thank you to officers.
Several church leaders gathered to applaud Commissioner Bill Evans and the entire Boston Police Department on its job patrolling protests, helping the community, and showing restraint in potentially life-threatening situations.
The clergy leaders also condemned recent disrespect and violence against police.
“We condemn violence against police officers, Reverend Mark Scott of Azusa Christian Community. “We do this for the very same reason that we would condemn the inappropriate use of force by police officers. We want to stand in support with the BPD.”
The pastor specifically applauded the officers involved in an arrest in Roxbury Wednesday, where police arrested a man with a replica gun without the use of force.
