CAMBRIDGE, MASS. (WHDH) - WASHINGTON (WSVN) — U.S. News & World Report announced their annual Best Colleges rankings for 2017 on Tuesday and two Massachusetts schools are near the top of the list.

Harvard took the nation’s No. 2 spot in “Best Colleges” behind Princeton, while the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) was seventh in the rankings.

Other schools in the top 10 included the University of Chicago, Yale, Columbia, Stanford, Duke, Penn, and Johns Hopkins.

Additionally, the three best liberal arts colleges in the nation are all from the Bay State. Williams College took the top spot, followed by Amherst College and Wellesley College. Regionally, Middlebury College in Vermont and Bowdoin College in Maine also made the cut.
