FOXBORO, MASS. (WHDH) - Local single mothers were showered with support at a baby shower Tuesday hosted by Patriots lineman Lawrence Guy and his wife, who provided the parents with some much-appreciated essential supplies.

The Lawrence Guy Family Foundation, which provides resources and opportunities for financially disadvantaged families, hosted the event at Gillette Stadium Tuesday to support more than 30 mothers who are either expecting or recently had a baby.

“We’re really blessed and I understand that bringing a child in this world is a special moment for everyone and when we started this event that was our idea to make sure everybody had the same things we had,” said Guy, explaining the inspiration behind creating the event with his wife Andrea.

The couple started the foundation in 2019 to inspire and help families reach their full potential.

“I’m just grateful for being here, it’s beautiful,” said mother Fyteema Major.

Each of the 36 mothers invited to the event went home with supplies including bottles, diapers, car seats and strollers.

Some of the mothers said the gifts were items that they could really use.

“He’s growing out of his car seat now so I’m hoping one of the new car seats will work so I’m very grateful for being here,” said Major.

Guy said the event is just a good way to give something back.

“We wanna support women that might not have the abilities to supply these items,” he added. “Make their journey a little bit better that’d be the best thing we can do.”

The Guy family said their foundation was inspired by seeing other mothers in need when the couple had their own children.
