PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — Police are investigating after two unidentified men were shot just blocks away from each other in Providence.

Lt. Roger Aspinall says officers were called to Fern Street just before 9 p.m. Thursday following reports of the first shooting in the neighborhood near Chalkstone Avenue.

Around the same time as police arrived to the scene, the victim walked himself into Roger Williams Hospital.

A second victim was then found suffering from a gunshot wound at the nearby intersection of Harvest and Robin streets. He was taken to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment.

Police say both men sustained injuries not believed to be life-threatening.

Detectives are continuing to investigate. It’s unclear at this time if the two shootings are connected.
