LOWELL, Mass. (WHDH) – Actor Chris Cooper was honored Saturday at UMass Lowell’s commencement.

Cooper, who won the Best Supporting Actor Oscar in 2003 for “Adaptation,” received an honorary doctorate from the school. A UMass English professor conferred the degree on Cooper during the ceremony.

Also receiving an honorary doctorate from UMass Lowell was journalist Judy Woodruff.
