BOURNE, MASS. (WHDH) - Bourne Police responded to the Cape Cod canal Tuesday morning where a car appeared to be in the water.

Witnesses said a man scoped out the area then he drove his car into the canal.

The driver has been charged with operating to endanger, speeding and malicious destruction of property.

Police posted a video to their Facebook page, depicting officials on scene, investigating the crash.

Just before 10:30 a.m., a driver went down Perry Ave near an area called “Three Mile Look.” The driver went through that area, landing in the canal.

Officials said the car drop 30-40 feet, hitting power lines as he landed.

The driver was able to get himself out of the car and was pulled from the water with only minor injuries.

The canal service road is closed near town hall.
