HALIFAX, MASS. (WHDH) - Rescue teams have suspended their search for a missing kayaker after he fell into Silver Lake in Halifax and did not resurface.

Authorities said two men were fishing on the lake. One man was in a canoe and another man was in a kayak.

The kayaker, who is believed to be in his 20s, fell into the water and has not been seen since. The other man called called 911 at 1:40 p.m. It is not known if the man was wearing a life preserver.

Authorities said witnesses saw the man fall into the water and then heard screams for help.

The Plymouth County dive team was called in. After six hours, the search was suspended for the night. Crews plan to resume their search Saturday morning.
