BOSTON (WHDH) - The Massachusetts Fallen Heroes memorial was officially opened Friday in Boston’s Seaport District.

The 50-foot monument is a tribute to all the fallen first responders from Massachusetts since Sept. 11, 2001. Gov. Charlie Baker and Boston Mayor Marty Walsh both attended the dedication and thanked everyone who made the memorial possible.

A grove of trees was also planted at the memorial. The grove recognizes those who suffered psychological wounds from war, like PTSD and depression.
