LONDONDERRY, N.H. (WHDH) – A suspect involved in a standoff in Londonderry, New Hampshire has been hospitalized after he allegedly tried to kill himself.
Police said the homeowner, a man in his early 70s, killed a fuel delivery employee, now identified as Daniel Rabideau, 59, and then tried to kill himself.
Police said they found Rabideau’s body when they were sent to the house on a well-being check.
The man who allegedly shot Rabideau refused to come out of the home, even after police used a bullhorn and sent a robot into the house to try and coax him out. Neighbors said the suspect has had run-ins with residents over the years.
Several residents were first asked to stay in their homes and were later evacuated during the standoff. Nearby schools were also told to keep students inside until the standoff was over.
The suspect, under police guard, was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Rabideau’s family said he never mentioned any issue with this customer, or any others. They are now wondering what the issue was.
