BILLERICA, MASS. (WHDH) - Billerica Police arrested a suspect on Saturday in connection with an assault on an officer that occurred on Friday night.

The incident happened just before 8 p.m. on Friday.

Two officers were investigating suspicious activity in a Rite Aid parking lot.

When one approached the car, the driver threw a needle on the ground, accelerated in reverse and struck the officer.

He was dragged roughly 15 feet before he fell.

Police said the suspect, Eric Oblenis, 28, is well known to police.

Police also said they wanted to question a man that was inside the vehicle when it all happened. They said he was not a suspect.

The officer is expected to be OK.
