Boston Police released a recent conversation between an elderly gentleman and an officer in the South End.

A police officer was working a paid detail in the South End about a week ago, when an elderly gentleman approached and struck up a conversation.

He politely asked if it would be OK to shake the officer’s hand.

Before extending his own hand, the man spoke to the officer about how he’d like to thank the officer.

The man gave the officer a business card and told him to put it in his wallet.

The card said “Thank you for standing between us and the criminals.”
