Middlesex D.A. releases video of police-involved shooting in Everett

EVERETT, MASS. (WHDH) - The Middlesex County District Attorney released video from a fatal police-involved shooting in Everett that happened back in April.

Police were called to the intersection of Broadway and Chelsea Street after reports of a suspect holding a knife and talking to himself.

The first officer on the scene allegedly tried to talk to the suspect, 48-year-old Mario Martinez, but then the surveillance video shows Martinez lunging at the officer with the knife. The officer then fired several shots, killing Martinez.

The D.A. said that Martinez’s family lives in El Salvador and that they have seen the video.
