A New Bedford gym owner has pleaded guilty on heroin trafficking charges.
Sharik Mendes, 39, pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute heroin on Wednesday.
According to the US Attorney’s office, in 2015 and 2016, Mendes, the owner of HEART gym, received a large amount of heroin from two suppliers based in Rhode Island.
Mendes then distributed the heroin to lower-level distributors in New Bedford. In total, he agreed to accept responsibility for conspiring to distribute between 600 and 700 grams of heroin.
