BOSTON (WHDH) -

The first official trailer for “Patriots Day,” film about the 2013 Boston Marathon bombings was released Wednesday.

The company behind “Patriots Day” also announced the Patriots Day Charity Challenge, an initiative to honor first responders, medical professionals and survivors of the attacks.

Charities throughout Boston are invited to visit the campaign’s CrowdRise page for details on how to sign up.

Dorchester native Mark Wahlberg was in Framingham in April shooting a scene that depicted the Watertown shootout with the Tsarnaev brothers.

Filming for the movie wrapped up in June at a studio in Weymouth.

“Patriots Day” hits theaters in December.
