PELHAM, NH (WHDH) — A Pelham, New Hampshire man who went on a crash course through town lied to officers about his drunk-driving crash, police said.

According to police, Brian Gervais called police, saying someone stole his car.

Gervais told them he chased after the thief and was then punched in the face.

Officers said his story didn’t match up with witness statements.

Gervais actually rolled his SUV on its side in the middle of the road and then left the car.

Police said he was driving under the influence.

He was arrested and released on bail.
