NEWTON, MASS. (WHDH) - The woman who went missing from a nursing home in Newton two days ago has been found safe.
Beth Birnbaum was brought to Mass General Hospital Thursday evening by David Collignon, the man accused of taking her.
Birnbaum and Collignon have known each other for 30 years and once dated.
The nursing home was concerned that Birnbaum may not be competent to make decisions about her care but Collignon’s brother Ross Collignon said he and his brother were concerned that Birnbaum has been mistreated at the nursing home.
Collignon and Birnbaum were driving to Florida when Collignon heard of the warrant out for his arrest. That’s when he turned around and brought Birnbaum to Mass General Hospital.
Collignon was arrested by Newton police after turning himself in.
7News talked to Collignon as he entered the Newton court house Friday morning, he said he had no regrets, he was just trying to help his friend and that he would do it again.
Ross Collignon says Beth is doing fine, and is in good spirits.
