TOWNSEND, MASS. (WHDH) - A student was taken to the hospital with serious injuries following a fight at a Townsend school on Tuesday morning.

The incident happened at North Middlesex Regional High School. School officials said the 16-year-old ran into the school’s main office and asked a teacher for help before collapsing. Students told 7News that the student and another boy got into a fight over a girl.

The fight was so serious that the police were called to the school. A notification was also sent to parents.

The boy remains hospitalized in the hospital’s trauma unit.
