NEW BEDFORD, MASS. (WHDH) - A teacher killed in a deadly stabbing spree in Taunton was honored by his students on the last day of school in New Bedford.

George Heath was a visiual arts teacher at New Bedford Regional Vocational-Technical Highh School. He was killed earlier this month at a Bertucci’s restaurant in Taunton while trying to protect a pregnant waitress being attacked by a man with a knife.

The waitress said Heath saved her life and recently met his wife to thank her.

Heath’s students all wore t-shirts at the vigil that were created by one of his students. She said she based the design on his favorite superhero, Batman.
