WOONSOCKET, R.I. (AP) — Police arrested a 29-year-old Rhode Island man after they say he drove his sport utility vehicle into the front of a Woonsocket radio station building while under the influence.

Thomas Hill, of Woonsocket, was charged with driving under the influence and possession of narcotics following the early Wednesday morning crash at the offices of WNRI-AM.

Police say Hill’s SUV tore through a corner of the building before striking a support pole for a satellite receiving dish.

The receiver was damaged but no studio or transmitting equipment was affected. The building’s wall was reduced to rubble and the front end of Hill’s SUV sustained major damage.

WNRI went on the air with local programming as scheduled. It couldn’t be immediately determined if Hill has a lawyer.
