BOSTON (AP) — Sen. Elizabeth Warren is planning to rally with janitors from across the Greater Boston area to push for what she calls fair pay and good benefits.

The Massachusetts Democrat is scheduled to join the rally planned for 1 p.m. Saturday on Boston Common.

Union organizers say they expect as many as 2,000 janitors and security officers from across the region to participate in the rally and march.

Organizers say that many of those who help support the area’s booming economy are being shut out of housing due to skyrocketing costs.

Union officials say the janitors and security officers who clean and protect over 2,000 buildings across the Boston region are bargaining for new contracts.

More than 13,000 janitors are covered by one of the largest master contracts in New England.
