ASHBURNHAM, MA (WHDH) — A woman was hospitalized after her car crashed into a home in Ashburnham Thursday afternoon.

The crash happened at a house on Ashby Road. Police said the woman was unconscious behind the wheel when her car went airborne and crashed into the house’s second floor.

Nobody was home at the time. Homeowner Skip Gould, 64, at the grocery store when he got a phone call about a crash at his house. Gould said if he was home, he probably would have been injured because the car came close to hitting the chair where he usually sits.

Gould, who is battling cancer, said he has lived at the house for 40 years. The house has now been condemned.

The driver is expected to be OK and Gould is being taken care of by family members in the area. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
