Lowell Police captured a 20-year-old man on Saturday who was wanted for allegedly assaulting an officer.
Gerald Paul Rodriguez, of Lowell, was captured after police put out an alert asking for the public’s help to locate him.
Police say Rodriguez assaulted an officer on Friday morning and was wanted for unarmed robbery. He was also wanted for resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.
Officials say officers responded to a report of two men fighting on Friday when one of the men accused Rodriguez of stealing his wallet.
Two officers struggled to detain him and were injured.
Rodriguez fled on foot.
Another officer chased down Rodriguez until he discarded the jacket and wallet of the victim.
Rodriguez injured the third officer and escaped.
