(AP) — The average price of a gallon of gasoline in Massachusetts dropped a penny in the past week, AAA Northeast announced Monday.

Self-serve, regular is now selling for an average of $2.52 per gallon, a penny lower than last week and a penny higher than the national average.

A year ago, the average per-gallon price in Massachusetts was 12 cents lower at $2.40 per gallon.

Increased total domestic supplies and lower demand have helped to ease pump prices, AAA spokeswoman Mary Maguire said in a statement.

AAA found a wide range of prices, from a low of $2.29 per gallon for regular, to a high of $3.05.
