I am running for Massachusetts Attorney General because I want to have a positive impact on the lives of Massachusetts families, their homes and their pocketbooks.
Growing up in Watertown with my seven brothers and sisters, my parents taught me to stand up for what I believe in. I have made this a guiding principle in my life and career. As a State Representative and Senator for eight years, I led on important issues like Campaign Finance Reform, Domestic Violence, the Buffer Zone, Early Childhood Education and ending the reign of Big Tobacco. My stand against Big Tobacco led to first-in-the-nation legislation, requiring tobacco companies to disclose the ingredients in their dangerous products.
As your Attorney General, I will work tirelessly to be a strong progressive voice on the issues that are most important to you and your family.
- I am the only candidate who will take on the the National Rifle Assocation to require smart gun technology on new firearms. I will act on day one to protect our children and families because we cannot delay any longer.
- I will bring together college and university leaders to change campus culture in order to reduce campus sexual assault and protect your children and my children.
- I will use the full weight of the office to combat the scourge of opiate abuse, including enforcing requirements for mental health parity so that we can find beds for people suffering from addiction.
I am proud of my lifelong commitment to progressive values and progressive action. I have never wavered in my commitment to equality for every member of our society and I never will. I have never wavered in my commitment to a fair deal for every family and I never will. And I will never waver in my determination to ensure that every person in this Commonwealth has someone to speak for them in the Attorney General’s office.
