DARTMOUTH, MASS. (WHDH) - A former Providence woman who fled the country on the eve of her trial six years ago has been found in the Dominican Republic.
Katherine Pimental, 35, was returned to Massachusetts and will appear in Fall River Superior Court on Tuesday to be arraigned on bail jumping charges and to face charges connected to a July 2007 stabbing incident at the King’s Inn in Dartmouth.
Pimental was arrested in the Dominican Republic last week. She was transported back to the United States Friday night and has been in custody at the Bristol County House of Corrections since.
Pimental is a former dancer at the King’s Inn and is accused of attacking and stabbing a fellow dancer several times while the victim was in a bathroom stall at the inn.
The victim sustained severe injuries to her face and arm.
Pimental was arrested shortly after the stabbing and was eventually released on $5,000 cash bail.
Although she appeared at all her pretrial court hearings, she did not show up in court on Dec. 3, 2009 when her trial was set to begin.
She is charged with armed assault with intent to murder, mayhem, assault with intent to maim and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
