Candidate for Treasurer and Receiver General Mike Heffernan brings over 25 years of deep private sector experience from senior leadership roles in financial services, capital markets and entrepreneurship. Mike is a Co-Founder and Advisory Board member of Mobiquity, Inc., a Massachusetts-based tech start up in the mobile-IT professional services space. Over the past three years, Mobiquity has grown to more than 300 employees, many of them here in Massachusetts. Mike spent nearly two decades in increasingly senior roles at Citigroup’s Markets & Banking division, most recently overseeing Citi’s 7 U.S. Regional Distribution offices in institutional equities. Mike was previously head of the Boston office for U.S. equity sales. Earlier in his career he was a managing director at Salomon Brothers and began his career at EF Hutton & Co. before returning to Massachusetts in 1990 to help build the Boston office of NatWest Markets.

Mike is a native of Southborough, attended the public schools there, and is a graduate of Algonquin Regional High School. He holds a BA in Economics from Georgetown University, and an MBA in Finance from New York University. After successfully launching Mobiquity, Mike returned to school full time, earning an MPA from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. Mike has been active in a number of charitable organizations. He currently sits on the board of Georgetown University’s Lauinger Library and the executive board of the Wellesley Historical Society. Mike previously served on the Board of Visitors of New England Baptist Hospital, the Board of Directors of Generations, Inc., and the Board of New England Baptist Medical Associates. Mike resides in Wellesley with his wife Peggy and their three teenage children.
