MACHIAS, Maine (AP) — A Maine bank is planning to provide $200,000 in community grant funding to organizations working for coronavirus relief efforts.
Machias Savings Bank said applications for the grants opened on May 1. The money will be made available to nonprofit groups working directly with the outbreak and its consequences for Maine, the bank said in a statement.
The bank recently provided $100,000 in grants to 42 nonprofits. It said this round of funding will be split between two groups. Half the funding will focus on community resiliency by providing help with issues such as food security, child care and services for the aging.
The other half of the funding will be geared toward Maine businesses. That will include technical assistance for small businesses, bank representatives said.
