AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) — The state of Maine has given its approval for Mayo Regional Hospital to join Northern Light Health.
The commissioner of the Maine Department of Health and Human Services granted the “certificate of need” necessary for the partnership.
Marie Vienneau, president and CEO, Mayo Regional Hospital, said the the collaboration will open doors “to a wealth of expertise and opportunity.”
Michelle Hood, president and CEO of Northern Light Health, said the medical systems hope to complete the legal and regulatory processes early in the first quarter of the year.
Northern Light is Maine’s second-largest health care system after MaineHealth, with more than 12,000 employees across multiple hospitals, primary care and specialty care practices.
