MALDEN, MASS. (WHDH) - Students in Malden are headed back to school Tuesday, but some are looking for a new way to get to school after bus service was cut.
Parent said they were given late notice of the change.
The school district said they have been working to notify families that they cut school buses due to budget cuts.
This affects kids in grades K-6, who will have to use city buses to get to school.
They will get a free MBTA bus pass.
The only students who will continue to take school buses will be special education or special needs children.
The school district said it is working with families to set up carpooling options and have offered to let families transfer their child to a school that is closer to home.
