A suspect wanted in a series of carjackings and robberies across New England was arrested Saturday.
Michael Munroe, 33, is accused of several carjackings and bank robberies, along with a home invasion. He and his alleged accomplice, 29-year-old Rebecca Norton, were both arrested in Hancock, New Hampshire.
Police said Munroe and Norton knocked on someone’s door in Hancock Saturday morning, asking to use their phone. Shortly afterward, Officer Frank Shea caught up with the two suspects. Munroe allegedly punched Shea in the face then took off, trying to steal Shea’s police cruiser. Police said Munroe was unable to get away because Shea took the keys out of the vehicle.
After a group effort involving Hancock’s fire chief and several residents, Munroe was removed from the police cruiser and arrested. Norton was allegedly spotted up the street and was also arrested. Shea was taken to the hospital, where he was treated for minor injuries.
Both suspects are in jail in Manchester and will be arraigned on Monday.
