EAST BRIDGEWATER, MASS. (WHDH) - A man was arrested after he allegedly rear-ended a police cruiser while drunk over the weekend in East Bridgewater.

Police received a report from an officer that his vehicle had been rear-ended on Route 18 at around 1 a.m. Saturday. Police said the driver, 24-year-old Ryan Macaluso, had alcohol on his breath when they arrived to the scene. The Abington man was arrested for operating under the influence.

The officer inside was seriously injured but has since been released from the hospital to recover at home. Macaluso’s two passengers were uninjured.

Macaluso was charged with second offense operating under the influence, reckless operation, following too closely and failing to yield. He is being held on $500 cash bail.
