WARE, MASS. (WHDH) - A man is in the hospital after he was charged by a bull twice in Ware, Wednesday.

The man, the 52-year-old owner of the farm, was inside the pen repairing a fence around 3:30 p.m., according to fire officials.

Officials say the bull charged the man and knocked him to the ground. The man got up and was charged again. The deputy chief said he was able to get out of the pen on his own.

He was initially taken to a hospital in Ware. He was then taken to the trauma center in Springfield by helicopter.

His injuries are believed to be serious but non-life threatening.
