A man was arrested for drunk driving after he allegedly struck a pedestrian while driving, according to the Quincy Police Department Facebook page.

Quincy police said the incident happened around 9:30 Thursday night on Thomas Burgin Parkway.

According to Quincy police, witnesses said they saw the victim crossing on the crosswalk on Burgin Parkway at Saville Street. James Vickey, 45, of Abington was driving southbound on Burgin Parkway when he struck the woman.

Witnesses said Vickey immediately pulled to the side of the road, and he had a green light at the time of the incident. They did not believe Vickey was speeding.

Officers asked Vickey to perform a series of field sobriety tests. Based on the results, Vickey was placed under arrest for operating under the influence of alcohol and negligent operation of a motor vehicle.

Thomas Burgin Parkway remained closed during the investigation. The victim was taken to Boston Medical Center, and she has serious injuries.
