Man charged with manslaughter after pushing friend into Charles River

BOSTON (WHDH) - A man who was pulled from the Charles River Tuesday afternoon after allegedly being pushed in by a friend, has died.

Mitchell Harrison, 26, of Watertown, was taken to Brigham and Women’s Hospital with life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead overnight.

Investigators determined that Harrison was intentionally pushed into the water from a recreational dock by one of his friends.

The men had reportedly been drinking alcohol on the dock when the victim, who was either passed out or sleeping, was pushed into the water shortly before 5:00 p.m.

Harrison was pulled from the water at approximately 5:20 p.m.

It’s reported that another witness jumped into the water in an effort to save Harrison, but it was ultimately dive teams that pulled him out.

State police arrested the suspect, identified as 27-year-old Lenny Quintero-Flores of Malden. and charged him with assault and battery causing serious bodily injury. That charge has been upgraded to manslaughter.

Quintero-Flores was held on $25,000 at his arraignment on Wednesday.
