WEST BROOKFIELD, MA (WHDH) — A man was arrested and charged with misleading a police investigation in connection with the murder of a woman and three children in West Brookfield.

Matthew Locke, 31 of Ware, was arraigned in East Brookfield District Court on charges of misleading a police investigation. He was held on $10,000 bail. The case was continued to April 24.

Police said they were called to the victims’ house on a well-being check and found all four victims dead in an upstairs bedroom. The victims were identified as 38-year-old Sarah Bermudez, her 8-year-old daughter Madison, her 6-year-old son James and her 2-year-old son Michael.

A source told 7News the four victims appeared to have been stabbed and burned.

Police are asking for the public’s help in the investigation, as so far no arrests have been made. Police may still be looking for a yellow diesel fuel can that appears to have gone missing from the house.

At this time, there are no reported suspects in the murder investigation.
