BOSTON (WHDH) - A Massachusetts man has been arrested and charged with threatening to burn down the largest mosque in Boston.
Patrick Keogan, 44 of Wilmington, allegedly made threats on Facebook to the Islamic Society of Boston Cultural Center in Roxbury, according to a complaint.
He is also charged with illegal possession of ammunition.
According to court documents, in November 2015, Keogan threatened the mosque. He posted on the mosque’s Facebook page an image depicting a mosque in flames with letters superimposed that said “Burn your local mosque,” along with a statement that said “Hello [expletive]” with a smiley face emoji.
Keogan allegedly posted the same threatening message on the Islamic Society of Northeastern University Facebook mosque.
According to court documents, Keogan’s Facebook page showed that despite his statutory prohibition as a convicted felon from possessing firearms, he continued to buy, sell, trade, build, modify and possess firearms and ammunition.
He is due in Moakley Courthouse Tuesday afternoon.
