A suspect died after a police-involved shooting late Saturday night in Lowell.
Lowell police said they responded to a call at a house on Cambridge Street about a man waving around a meat-cleaver. The 39-year-old suspect had allegedly made statements threatening to kill people.
When officers arrived on scene they said there was an altercation with the suspect and he charged at them with the meat-cleaver. Police said several officers shot the suspect and he was later pronounced dead.
Two officers are now on leave.
The suspect’s identity has not been released.
