LIVERMORE, Maine (AP) — Officials say an 88-year-old man died when a boat overturned on a pond in Maine.

The Maine Warden Service says that the Rumford resident who died was a passenger in a boat that overturned Friday afternoon on Brettuns Pond near Route 108. Acting Sgt. John MacDonald says the boat was being operated by another man.

Officials have not released the man’s identity, and say two other passengers made it to shore and survived. Investigators are determining what caused the boat, powered by an electric motor, to overturn.
