A man was killed inside of a burning home on Edith Holmes Drive in Scituate Tuesday night.

Scituate Police and Fire responded to a call from a concerned neighbor around 7:44 p.m.

Firefighters were unable to enter the home because of the presence of heavy clutter inside.

A man was seen lying in his bed in a rear bedroom of the home and firefighters enter through a window to make a rescue.

Scituate EMS began lifesaving efforts on the victim, who has been identified as Sean Gorman, 42.

Gorman was transported to South Shore Hospital in Weymouth but was pronounced dead.

According to police, Gorman was living with his mother but she was not home at the time of the fire. The home suffered a partial roof collapse and was heavily damaged by the fire.

A preliminary investigation shows the fire is not considered suspicious and no foul play was suspected.

Officials are now investigating the cause of the fire.
