NEWTON, N.H. (WHDH) — When Police Chief Larry Streeter got the phone call about a bank robbery in his town the bank employee calling had a very familiar voice.

The robbery occurred at the Merrimac Savings Bank in Newton, N.H., and the caller was Streeter’s wife.

"A lot flashes in front of you when you get a call like that. She told me that they had just been robbed. All 3 tellers had pushed the holdup buttons,” Streeter said.

The suspect, a slender 5-foot-8-inch man who pulled up to the bank on a bike. He then passed one of the tellers a note demanding cash.

Streeter said his wife is fine after the ordeal.

"She's fine. She's almost used to it being married to me for 40, being in this business for 40 years,” he said.

Police are asking for your help tracking down the suspected bank robber, and ask anyone who may recognize them to call the department.
