NASHUA, N.H. (WHDH) — A New Hampshire man who pleaded guilty to stabbing another man to death was sentenced Wednesday.
A judge sentenced 21-year-old Matthew Packer to 52 years in prison. Packer was assaulting two women outside their Nashua, New Hampshire apartment building in 2011. When their roommate rushed out to help, Packer stabbed him 16 times, killing him.
The victim’s parents said they’re glad Packer won’t be able to hurt anyone else.
“No matter what he got today, it doesn’t bring my son back. My son was a good kid, with a lot of good things coming his way. But I’m glad he’s being put away for a long time,” said the victim’s mother, Catherine Frontiero.
“Think about him every day, every day I thought about the way he was murdered. Hopefully I can get past that and start thinking about all the good times we had together,” said the victim’s father, Paul Frontiero.
Both women survived the attack.
