MALDEN, Mass. (WHDH) — A man in Malden is lucky to be alive after he was struck by lightning on Wednesday.
Chris Plowman says he was standing in the front yard on the phone during a thunderstorm when all of a sudden there was a flash, and he was knocked to the ground.
“No rumbles of thunder. One bolt exploded in my face. Phone blew out of my hand. Fell back. Next thing you know, I can’t see. I was blind for 30 to 40 seconds,” Plowman said.
Plowman was rushed to the hospital. Doctors later told him if he had been a few steps away, he would have been dead.
