SEEKONK, MASS. (WHDH) - A Swansea man surrendered to police after a seven-hour standoff at a motel in Seekonk.

Police said the 31-year-old man had a knife and was holding a woman hostage in a motel room on Fall River Avenue. After seven hours, police said he allowed the woman to leave the room. She was uninjured.

After letting the woman leave, police said the suspect surrendered and he was arrested. He was charged with kidnapping, assault with a dangerous weapon and failure to register as a sex offender.
