MANCHESTER, N.H. (WHDH) - A 16-year-old Manchester student was taken into custody after allegedly pointing an air soft gun out of a moving car window Thursday.

The incident prompted a secure campus mode for Manchester School of Technology, Jewett Street School and Southside Middle School.

A Manchester teacher alerted a school resource officer about the student with a gun. According to the teacher, the male student was sitting in the backseat of a car driving eastbound on Weston Road around 10:15 a.m.

The teacher said the student was with unidentified people in the car, and he lost sight of the boy while he and his class walked on the sidewalk of Western Road.

The teacher returned to Memorial High School to alert the resource officer. The student was eventually found inside the school, but he was not armed.

An air soft gun was found in the trunk of a car belonging to another student a short time later.

The student was taken into custody around 11:45 a.m., and his charges are pending.
