MANSFIELD, MASS. (WHDH) - A Mansfield man pleaded guilty to charges of threatening to assassinate President Obama.
Andrew O’Keefe, 29, declined comment to reporters after leaving the federal courthouse but pleaded guilty in front of a judge minutes earlier.
O’Keefe admitted to posting a threat on an FBI web tip page, signing the tip with his social security number, saying, “I’ve got a really good plan. Have the Secret Service Give me a visit. I could use some company.”
The threat was posted in May 2015. Federal agents raided O’Keefe’s apartment in Mansfield, finding more than 100 weapons including swords, double-edged knives, spears, hatchets, and an air rifle.
O’Keefe has been on strict probation, confined to his home with a GPS ankle bracelet. He will remain on probation until his arraignment in March.
O’Keefe faces a maximum sentence of 5 years in prison.
