BURLINGTON, Mass. (WHDH) — The deadline for holiday shoppers was closing in on Monday morning with only two days until Christmas.

Many stores were trying to accommodate all of the last-minute shoppers out there.

Kohl's will keep the lights on for the next 100 hours for last-minute procrastinators who have not finished their shopping because, as you know, there are only two days left. Toys "R" Us was staying open 87 straight hours and Barnes & Noble was trying to lure shoppers with free gift wrapping.

“It was very tough getting a parking spot so I dropped everyone off and kind of stalked a few people in the parking lot and I finally was lucky enough to get a parking spot a couple hundred yards away,” Mark Buatti said.

Saturday was known as ‘Super Saturday’ and some people are calling this Monday, ‘Manic Monday’. It was estimated that Monday could be one of the busiest shopping days of the year. People could be spending $2.6 million a minute Monday getting last minute gifts, food and drinks and decorations. The last-minute shopping dash is most likely created by bad weather, keeping people across the country from finishing their shopping until the last minute. With a late Thanksgiving, this year also saw a shorter season between Thanksgiving and Christmas. So stores were trying to do whatever they could to get people in.

Nine-year-old Graham Hardin said he's been playing his violin all year to save up for his Christmas shopping.

"I took my money, I looked on computer what I want for my mother and my dog chewed up her slippers so I wanted to buy her new slippers," Hardin said.

Many shoppers like the idea of stores staying open around the clock.

“I think it's a pretty good idea that they open 24 hours. It helps people that work different hours, different shifts,” said one shopper.

For anyone who still needs to shop – you have to battle the lines, but the good news is there's probably still good deals and promotions going on.

You're also not alone. The Wall Street Journal recently reported that only 44 percent of people finish shopping a week before the holiday.
