Residents in Marshfield spent Sunday digging out after Saturday’s storm left more than a foot of snow and flooding in the coastal city.

People told 7News they were grateful that this year’s storm did not match last year’s, when powerful waves breached sea walls and damaged homes. While the damage was not as severe with this storm, waves did go over the sea walls at high tide, causing some minor flooding around Ocean Street.

"The waves were completely hitting the houses and went right over them, crashing down," said Angela Chandler, who lives in Marshfield.

Steve Barber, of the Marshfield Department of Public Works, said crews spent months repairing the walls after last year’s storm and he did not get any calls about sea walls breaking again.
